Among the list of common skin issues, dry skin is at the top. Dry skin can be super uncomfortable, making your skin feel tight and sensitive. I personally have oily skin, and if I ever get that tight dry feeling I am so uncomfortable I feel like I need to lather up immediately!!
However, I think a lot of people get dry skin and dehydrated skin confused. They are two very different things, that need to be treated in equally different ways.
Overall, dry skin is lacking oil and dehydrated skin is lacking water. See how these are totally different, but can be easily confused? Your skin needs both water and oil to form healthy and balanced moisture levels.

- What causes it? Dry skin is a genetic skin type where the skin naturally lacks a certain amount of oil. The degrees of dry skin vary by person. Generally you will know if your skin is genetically dry because you will have dealt with this your entire life.
- How is it treated? As I mentioned, dry skin is lacking in oil, so naturally, you need to add more oil into your routine. This can be achieved by using oils in your skincare routine, or if you don't like the feel of oil on your skin then you can use rich moisturizers that are formulated specifically for chronically dry skin. (note: always choose a moisturizer for the specific body part - so do not use a body lotion on your face! Body lotions can contain clogging ingredients that can irritate and break your face out. Steer clear). Tip: apply a think moisturizer in the evening and follow it with a nourishing skin oil. The oil is occlusive, meaning it will lock in all the moisture from your moisturizer so they don't evaporate on the skin.

- What causes it? Dehydrated skin is a skin condition caused by lack of water in the skin. This is generally caused by products one is using. A lot of acne-targeted products and exfoliating products can cause this by stripping the skin of its natural water content.
- How is it treat Dehydrated skin is a skin condition caused by a lack of water in the skin. This is generally caused by products one is using. A lot of acne-targeted products and exfoliating products can cause this by stripping the skin of its natural water content. Its weight in water. So what this means for your skin is that it will draw water from your moisturizer and from the environment around you and hold it in your skin to provide insane hydration. One note here: you MUST use a moisturizer with an HA serum. If you use only an HA : apply a thick moisturizer in the evening and follow it with a nourishing skin oil. The oil is occlusive, meaning it will lock in all the moisture from your moisturizer so that it doesn't evaporate on the skin. This is the perfect combo to provide huge hydration.
